Korab, January 6: A man allegedly hacked his mother to death while practising black magic and later drank her blood when she was dying. The incident took place on December 31 in Ramakachhar village in Chhattisgarh's Korba district. A woman witnessed the horrific incident, but couldn't intervene. It took her over three days to get over the shock and approach the police.
According to the eye-witness, Samiran Yadav, she saw Dilip Yadav hacking his mother Sumariya in the head, neck and chest with an axe. She said she was stunned as Dilip sat down and started licking up the blood that was flowing out of his mother’s wounds. "I was shivering in terror and pressed myself against a wall as this beastly act was going on," she told the police, as reported by TOI.
Yadav then reportedly performed rituals and offered some of the dismembered body parts as an offering at a religious place inside the house and then incinerated the body in an earthen 'chulha', Sub Divisional Officer of Police (Katghora area) Sandip Mittal said. He said the exact cause of death would be ascertained once police teams managed to nab Yadav. The eyewitness remained in shock for few days and later discussed the matter with the village head. Villagers then reported the matter to the police on Thursday 'as an act of cannibalism'. On Friday, cops went to Sumariya’s house with a forensic team and found ashes and charred bones. The police recovered items used for tantric practices and a book on black magic.
According to the police, Dilip is said to have blamed his mother for his father's sudden death and his separation from his wife.
