Janjgir-Champa, August 17: Amid growing outcry over the Kolkata rape-murder incident, a similarly horrifying case has emerged from Janjgir-Champa, Chhattisgarh. On August 16, police discovered the body of a 55-year-old woman who was allegedly raped and murdered, dumped in bushes about a kilometre from her home in the Akaltara police station area. The victim, who had been missing since August 15, was found half-naked, with pieces of wooden sticks brutally inserted in her private parts.
According to a report by Amar Ujala, a passerby discovered the half-naked body of the victim in the bushes near her home on Friday morning, August 16, and promptly alerted the police. The discovery shocked the community as the victim, known to be a liquor addict, had been missing since the night before, i.e., August 15. The body showed signs of extreme brutality, including wooden sticks inserted into her private parts, leading to suspicions of both rape and murder.
