Chhattisgarh Floods: Kelo River Overflows, Administration Issues Red Alert, Declares School Holiday

Due to torrential rainfall that has led to floods in Chhattisgarh, the Kelo river has started overflowing. According to an ANI tweet, the administration has issued an alert and holiday has been declared in schools. People living in lower areas have been evacuated and taken to safe places.

Raipur, August 14: Due to torrential rainfall that has led to floods in Chhattisgarh, the Kelo river has started overflowing. Reportedly, the Sabari river is flowing at a critical level and if more rains persist then the flooding may worsen in the area. People living in lower areas have been evacuated and taken to safe places. The district administration and police are kept a high alert.

In Bastar, the three worst-affected districts are Bastar district and Sukma and Bijapur districts wherein several parts, flood water is running over roads, cutting off entire rural tracts.

The toll in floods in five states of India crossed 225 on Tuesday, according to a PTI report. Ninety-one of these deaths were reported in Kerala. More than 14,000 people from flood-affected areas of Maharashtra, Goa and Karnataka in the past week.
