Raipur, April 5: One Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) soldier, who was injured in an encounter with Naxals on Friday in forests of Saleghat area in Chhattisgarh’s Dhamtari, succumbed to his injuries. According to reports, a heavy loss was also inflicted on the Naxals. However, there are no reports of casualties of Naxals in the gunfight. According to reports, a commandment of the 211 Battalion who had been out for patrolling operations has reached the incident spot with a reinforcement party. More details of the incident are awaited.
Yesterday, four Border Security Force (BSF) jawans were martyred in a gun battle n Chhattisgarh's Kanker district. In the incident, two BSF jawans were also injured. "One jawan of the 114 battalion of BSF died while two others sustained injuries in an encounter that broke out between the security forces and Naxals," DIGP Anti Naxal Operation P Sundarraj told ANI.
The encounters took place just a few days before the first phase of Lok Sabha elections 2019. Chhattisgarh is going for votes in three phases on April 11, 18 and 23 and the counting of votes will take place on May 23.
