Raipur, Sep 20: The Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) will contest the upcoming Chhattisgarh Assembly elections with Janta Congress Chhattisgarh, party supremo Mayawati announced on Thursday. Ajit Jogi has been declared as the chief ministerial candidate of BSP-Janta Congress alliance, Mayawati added.
"BSP has decided to contest upcoming assembly polls in alliance with Janta Congress Chhattisgarh. BSP will fight on 35 seats, and Janta Congress Chhattisgarh will contest on 55 seats. If we win, Ajit Jogi will be the chief minister," Mayawati said. The BSP supremo also announced a list of candidates for assembly polls in Madhya Pradesh. RSS Won't Accept Muslims, Says Mayawati After Mohan Bhagwat Speech.
Reacting to RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat's observation on Wednesday that if the Muslims themselves build the Ram temple, it would help mitigate the animosity between the Hindus and Muslims, she said she did not agree with this. She also slammed the Narendra Modi government's move on the 'triple talaq' ordinance, calling it "politically motivated".
"We don't agree with this logic. Even if the Muslims make many more temples the narrow-minded Hindus will never mend fences with the Muslims because their basic mentality is anti-Muslim, anti-Dalit and anti-minorities," Mayawati said in a statement.
