Chhattisgarh: 15 Naxals Killed In Sukma Encounter; Large Amount Of Firearms Seized
In a major breakthrough for security forces, 14 Naxals were killed today in an encounter in Chhattisgarh’s Sukma district. The gunfight took place this morning in a forest area in south Sukma, around 500 km from Raipur.
Sukma, August 6: In a major breakthrough for security forces, 15 Naxals were killed today in an encounter in Chhattisgarh’s Sukma district. The gunfight took place this morning in a forest area in south Sukma, around 500 km from Raipur. Till now 15 bodies of Naxals have been recovered, and a large amount of firearms were also seized from the encounter site. The encounter is still underway. Four naxals were also apprehended from the area including an area committee member who had a bounty of Rs five lakh.
On August 3, One Naxal was killed and two policemen were injured in an encounter with security forces at a weekly market in Chhattisgarh's Bijapur district. The encounter started when a police team was patrolling the area to ensure protection to the weekly market.
Earlier this month, Naxal zone commander of Tritiya Sammelan Prastuti Committee (TSPC), Brahmdev Ganjhu, who had Rs 3 lakh bounty on his head, also surrendered before the Latehar police. Brahmdev, became a Maoist at the age of 10 due to some land issue. In March also, Ten Naxals, including a woman had surrendered in Chhattisgarh's Kondagaon district.
