New Delhi, November 10: To make the journey of passengers visiting their hometowns during the festival of Chhath Puja easier, the Indian Railways has made various arrangements. During the festival, the railways has started 90 special trains with 8-10 trains running on each day to carry rush passengers from various cities including Delhi. The railways also started several unreserved trains.
The northern railway has opened several tatkal counters at stations in Delhi so that passengers can get tickets easily. Camps have also been installed at stations in the national capital for the comfort of the passengers going for Chhath Puja to their native towns.
Passengers are also not required to buy platform tickets till November 13 in the wake of the heavy rush of passengers due to Chhath Puja. Addition coaches have been added to regular trains for making the journey comfortable. The Eastern Railway has even started one special train between Gaya, Darbhanga, Barauni Muzaffarpur, Patna and Bhagalpur on Chhath puja. The train has been named as "Pooja Special Train". Chhath Puja is considered as the ancient Hindu Vedic Festival. It is celebrated in honour of the Chhathi Maiya and the Sun God. The puja is celebrated in states of Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and Jharkhand. This year, Chhath Puja is all set to take place from November 11 onwards. It will begin with Nahay Khay on Saturday and conclude with Suryoday or Usha Argh, sunrise on November 14.
