New Delhi, November 10: With an aim to avoid passenger rush during the festival of Chhath Puja, the Indian Railways has decided to run some special trains across many routes. The special trains will run from various cities including Delhi and Mumbai to Bihar. The Eastern and the Northern railways have given information about these trains on their respective twitter handles. In addition to this, coaches will also be added to regular trains to clear the rush on the day of the pooja. Passengers can book tickets from ticket counters or online from irctc.co.in.
The Eastern Railway has also started one special train between Gaya, Darbhanga, Barauni Muzaffarpur, Patna and Bhagalpur on Chhath puja. The train has been named as "Pooja Special Train" by the railway. Earlier, the Indian railways also ran special trains on the occasion of Dussehra and Diwali to reduce passenger rush.

Chhath Puja is celebrated in honour of the Chhathi Maiya and the Sun God. It is the biggest festival in states of Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and Jharkhand. This year, the festival is all set to take place from November 11 onwards. Chhath Puja 2018 will begin with Nahay Khay on Saturday and conclude with Suryoday or Usha Argh, sunrise on November 14. Chhath Puja is celebrated twice a year, once during Chaitra month (corresponding to March-April) some days after Holi. It is called Chaiti Chhath Puja. The second time, and considered more significant is celebrated on Kartika Shukla Shashthi, which is the sixth day of the month of Kartika in the Vikram Samvat Hindu Calendar (October-November).
