Chennai, October 18: In a shocking incident, a five-year-old child was sexually abused by a teenager in Koyambedu. The incident reportedly occurred on October 14, and the accused boy was detained on Monday, October 16, after the victim's parents filed a complaint on Sunday. A case has been registered against the accused, a class nine dropout, under relevant sections of the POCSO Act.
The victim and the accused are neighbours and know each other well. According to a report published by the Times of India, on the fateful day, the victim went to the accused's house to play and watch television. The incident came to light when the girl shared her ordeal with her parents on Sunday, October 15, 2023. Following this, the victim's father approached the Koyambedu police station and filed a complaint. Acting on a complaint, the police filed a case under the POCSO Act and arrested the accused. As per the reports, the accused was produced before the Juvenile Justice Board (JJB) Justice and admitted to the Correctional Facility for Boys and Girls in Kellys. In another incident, a 19-year-old man was arrested by the police for allegedly raping and murdering a six-year-old boy in a village in Dharmapuri district. After the crime, which reportedly took place on July 16, the man dumped the body of the boy in an overhead tank. The crime came to light after the parents of the boy filed a missing complaint. Based on the complaint, the police started a search and grew suspicious of a relative of the victim. They then nabbed the suspect, M Prakash, of the same village.
