Chennai, December 4: A 54-year-old stunt master performing at a film set died on Saturday after he fell from a height of 20 feet on a film set near Vandalur allegedly after a rope attached to his body snapped and he fell to the ground 20 ft below. Another performer was injured in the incident that occurred at Oonamancherry village around 10 am.

The victim has been identified as S. Suresh, a stunt master for more than 25 years. He was assisting another lead stunt master for the upcoming film Viduthalai directed by Vetrimaaran. The film has actor Soori in the lead and Vijay Sethupathi as a guest appearance.

TOI reported that the crew was shooting a stunt performance and a depiction of a railway accident. A set was built for the scene at Unamancheri near Vandalur in the city’s suburbs. When the shooting for the scene began, stunt performers were tied to ropes attached to a huge crane. He was rushed to a nearby private hospital, where he succumbed later. Another stunt performer was injured, said the police. The Otteri police registered a case and an investigation is on. Suresh is survived by his wife and children.
