Salem, May 26: In a dramatic turn of events, the Chennai police have successfully rescued a female nurse who was abducted from a Velachery hospital by her "lover". The police apprehended four men, including a distant relative of the victim, who orchestrated the kidnapping following a rejected marriage proposal.
According to The New Indian Express, the primary suspect, S Sabapathi (27), from Ramanathapuram district, allegedly masterminded the abduction after his romantic advances were declined by the nurse. Labelling the incident as a case of one-sided love, the police detailed how Sabapathi, along with accomplices P Hariharan (20), V Rajesh (39), and S Sabarinathan (25), executed the plan and kidnapped the woman from her workplace. How The Incident Came to Light?
Quick-thinking onlookers at the hospital immediately notified the Velachery police, who acted swiftly to review the CCTV footage, leading to the identification of the getaway vehicle. A high alert was issued across toll plazas and checkpoints, culminating in capturing the suspects near Olakkur in the Villupuram district. In another incident, Nandhini, a software engineer in Thalambur, Chennai, was tragically chained and burned alive, with the police finding her partially charred body bearing severe injuries. The investigation uncovered that Vetrimaran, a transsexual person who was once a friend of Nandhini, committed the murder. Vetrimaran became enraged after Nandhini terminated their friendship and started engaging in conversations with others. Vetrimaran has been arrested by the police and is now in judicial custody.
