Chennai, September 23: A woman professor of a private medical college in Tamil Nadu's Chennai has alleged assault, torture and abuse by the colleagues and college staff in a social media post. In a three-minute clip on Facebook, the assistant professor identifies her attackers and issues a plea for help. She also said that they are forcing her to "commit suicide", NDTV reported. In the clip, the woman says that she has worked in the Tagore Medical College for past one-and-a-half-year. She said that she is living on the campus and alleged that they locked her in a room without food and water supplies, NDTV reported. "I've faced lots of abuse, torture and physical abuse, mainly verbal abuse," she said. The woman also alleged that senior faculty tried to humiliate her by pushing her in front of the students. "I am very depressed. They are threatening me. They are forcing me to commit suicide," she said in a clip.
The management of the college has confirmed that the woman lived on the campus for 18 months. Dr N Gunasekaran, the Dean of the college, speaking to NDTV said that a committee has been set up to look into the matter. "Members of the panel are talking to her. The woman faculty member's father too has come," he said.
