Chandigarh, November 25: In a shocking incident, a 17-year-old boy was burnt to death in Punjab's Mansa district. The victim identified as Jasprit Singh was allegedly taken to a closed rice mill, where his legs were tied and he was set on fire by pouring some inflammable material.
According to an Indian Express report, both the victim and the accused belonged to the Dalit community. The three accused- Jashan Singh, Gurjeet Singh and Raju Singh have been arrested. Jaspreet’s elder brother, Kulwinder Singh, had eloped with Jashan’s sister, Rajo Kaur, about two and a half year ago and later got married. The couple started living in an area, around 30 kms from the city, and they had not visited their parents' house even once after getting married. They have a young kid together and reportedly, the differences arose as Jaspreet would often tease Jashan and his family about his marriage.
In a shocking case in July this year, a Dalit man was allegedly murdered by his upper-caste in-laws in Varmor village of Gujarat's Ahmedabad district on July 8. The incident took place on Monday night when the victim, Haresh Solanki, went to his in-laws' house to persuade them to send his wife back, who was two-months pregnant.
