Central Railways Posts Rs 135.56 Crore Record Breaking Ticket Checking Earnings in April-December 2018

New Delhi, January 11: Indian Railways' Central zone posted a record-breaking ticket checking earning of Rs 135.56 crore in April-December 2018 period. Out of it, Rs 10.21 crore was earned in December 2018 after the railway's intensive campaign against ticketless and irregular travel. A senior railway official was quoted in Central Railway blog saying that officers are closely monitoring the revenue loss due to ticketless travel and other such activities.

In the month of December 2018 CR railway earned Rs 10.40 crore showing an increase of 10.72 per cent compared to Rs 8.76 crore in December 2017. Around 2.33 lakh cases of irregular travel were detected in December 2018 which is 13.11 per cent higher against 2.06 lakh cases in December 2017. Indian Railways Not to Hire Women for Few Jobs Due to ‘Tough and Unfavourable’ Working Conditions.

Further, the report stated that in April 2018 to December 2018 a total of 27.05 lakh cases of irregular travel was detected compared to 24.40 lakh in the same period last year, there has been an increase in 10.86 per cent. The earnings realised from such ticketless/irregular travel during the April- December 2018 is Rs. 135.56 crore as against Rs. 121.09 crore registered during the April- December 2017 showing an increase of 11.95 per cent in earnings.
