Amul, a leading dairy brand in India, has addressed a complaint from a Noida customer who claimed to have discovered a centipede inside an ice cream tub she ordered through an instant delivery app. The incident surfaced on June 15 when Deepa Devi shared a picture of the insect inside the ice cream tub on X (formerly Twitter).
Noida, June 17: Amul, a leading dairy brand in India, has addressed a complaint from a Noida customer who claimed to have discovered a centipede inside an ice cream tub she ordered through an instant delivery app. The incident surfaced on June 15 when Deepa Devi shared a picture of the insect inside the ice cream tub on X (formerly Twitter).
The Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF), which markets Amul products, expressed regret for the inconvenience caused and promptly requested Devi to return the ice cream tub for further investigation. Noida's food safety department has also initiated a probe into the matter. "We deeply regret the inconvenience caused to her because of this incident," Amul stated, emphasizing their immediate response to the complaint on social media. The company's team attempted to contact Devi and met her after 9:30 pm on the same day. During the meeting, Amul requested the ice cream tub for investigation, but Devi reportedly refused to hand it over. Amul stressed that without the complaint pack, it would be challenging to thoroughly investigate the issue and comment specifically on the integrity of the pack and supply chain.
Amul reassured customers of the superior quality of their products, produced in state-of-the-art ISO-certified plants that undergo numerous stringent quality checks. The company invited Devi to visit their plant to witness the quality processes in place.
