CBI Team Attacked by Villagers of Absconding Officer in Greater Noida
A Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) team was attacked on Saturday in Uttar Pradesh's Noida when they tried to arrest an accused officer in a bribery case.
New Delhi, February 23: A Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) team was attacked on Saturday in Uttar Pradesh's Noida when they tried to arrest an accused officer in a bribery case. A six-member team of CBI comprising of Inspector, Sub-Inspector, 2 Constables and 1 woman Constable had gone to Sonpura village in GB Nagar to arrest Sunil Dutt. Dutt, an ASI (Assistant sub-inspector) at CBI, was booked in a bribery case. CBI Director Convenes Review Meeting of All Branches of Agency.
"The team was attacked by members of Dutt's extended family and others in order to help him to escape from the place. The team was forced inside the premises and were beaten," a CBI statement said, adding that Sunil Dutt fled through the back door of the premises. "The mobile phones, diaries, and I-cards of some CBI team members were also snatched and burnt", said the statement.

The police officials rushed to the spot after receiving a call and rescued the CBI team which was taken to a hospital for treatment. Based on the complaint from CBI, the local police has registered a first information report (FIR). According to sources, Dutt has been accused of taking 10 lakh bribe to provide relief to three accused in Rs 126-crore land scam at Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA).
