Bengaluru, April 4: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Thursday arrested officer of the Income Tax department for allegedly accepting a bribe. Narendra Singh posted at IT office in Bengaluru was arrested after the CBI received information of his wrongdoing. Another Income Tax officer was arrested by the CBI on Wednesday in the connection with the same matter. CBI Registered 206 Corruption Cases Against Central Government Employees in 2018.
"They demanded a bribe of Rs 14 lakh for the favours in the matter of settling the issue pertaining to income tax survey conducted at the office premises of the complainant," said a senior CBI official. Pune: 2 Policemen Posted at GST Office Arrested by CBI for Accepting Rs 1 Lakh Bribe.
According to a report by news agency ANI, Narendra Singh had demanded and accepted the bribe. The CBI laid the trap and caught the accused red-handed. The central agency found Rs 30 Lakh cash and US 1450 dollars from a locker. The accused have been arrested under the charges of corruption and will be produced before the CBI court.

Last month, similarly, two superintendents of police (SP) of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) department were arrested for accepting a bribe of Rs 1 Lakh. The policemen posted at Pune GST office were arrested after CBI received information about their misconduct.
