Mumbai, October 5: In a bizarre incident that has come to light in Karnataka, a bus shelter along with its steel structure was allegedly stolen in Bengaluru. The incident took place nearly a week after the bus shelter was installed on the Cunnigham Road. Notably, the bus shelter, along with the steel structure, is said to be worth Rs 10 lakh. The bus shelter was managed by the Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC).
As per a report in the Times of India, miscreants allegedly stole the bus shelter with its stainless-steel structure worth Rs 10 lakh. The report also states that the alleged robbery took place on Cunnigham Road, which is located less than 1 km away from Vidhana Soudha. The incident came to light after a complaint was filed on September 30, nearly a month after the theft occurred. 'Bus Shelter Stolen Nearly A Month Ago'
Acting on N Ravi Reddy's complaint, the police registered a case under section 379 (punishment for theft) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). In his complaint, Reddy said that they constructed the bus shelter on Cunnigham Road on August 21. He also said that the cost of the stainless-steel structure was Rs 10 lakh. Reddy said that when they visited the shelter on August 28, it was missing.
When they realised that the bus shelter was stolen, they approached the cops. Passengers who used the bus shelter said that an old-fashioned bus shelter which was at the spot was demolished a few months ago. Passengers have now raised concerns as the bus shelter has disappeared. The bus step on Cunnigham Road now has a small shelter which cannot accommodate more than 20 people at a time. Meanwhile, the police have launched a probe and are collecting CCTV footage to identify and trace the miscreants in order to solve the theft case.
