Jammu, December 8: At least 13 people were killed and 34 were injured after a bus went off the road and fell into a deep gorge in Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday. According to a tweet by ANI, the accident took place in Plera in Mandi tehsil of Poonch district. Several others have been injured in the tragic accident. According to reports, the bus was heading towards Poonch from Loran. DDC Poonch, Rahul Yadav confirmed the incident and said the injured people are being treated at different hospitals. "We’ve arranged air ambulance for those who are in a critical condition; a chopper will arrive soon from Jammu. According to a report by Greater Kashmir, the passenger bus (registration number JK02W0445) was heading towards Poonch and fell into the gorge at around 9:15 am on Saturday. The injured ones were shifted to sub-district hospital Mandi for treatment.

Block Medical Officer Poonch Syed Mushtaq Hussain confirmed the incident and said eleven people have lost their lives in the accident. "19 passengers were injured in the accident. Five critically injured patients were referred to district hospital Poonch for specialised treatment," he said.

On Friday, a similar incident was reported from north Kashmir, where a  newlywed couple was killed in Baramulla. Reports inform that the couple, which entered into a wedlock just a week ago, was riding a motorcycle when they were hit by a vehicle in Pattan area.
