Burari Deaths: The Only One Alive Was The Pet Dog
The dog was also running a very high fever, 108 degrees, at the time of rescue and is currently recovering at the animal shelter.
New Delhi, July 2: The mystery surrounds the death of 11 members of the Burari family found on Sunday. The animal activists have now rescued the family dog, which remained chained in the house. Noida based animal rights activists took about one and a half hours to control the highly aggressive dog. The dog was also running a very high fever, 108 degrees, at the time of rescue and is currently recovering at the animal shelter.
The Delhi Police's Crime Branch is investigating the case, whether it was a mass suicide attempt or a planned murder. The letters that were found by the investigators hinted at some involvement in spiritual practices. Among the deceased included 10 people- two men, six women and two teens, found hanging in the courtyard of their house. A body of another elderly woman was found lying in another room. The Indian pitbull mix breed dog was chained in the house and the age is expected to be around 6-7 years. In the latest report, relatives have claimed that spiritual angle is bogus.
"We contacted the investigating officer, volunteering to adopt the dog and reached the spot. The dog which was chained was quite furious and aggressive. It took us one-and-a-half hours to control him and bring to the ambulance. We found that the dog was burning with fever at 108 degrees. Normally, dogs don’t survive at that temperature,” said Sanjay Mahapatra, owner of the animal shelter to a report in Hindustan Times. The dog was then taken to the animal shelter and given proper medication. They also gave him an icepack so that the body temperature could be lowered. "The dog seems depressed and despite our efforts to cheer him up, his behaviour remained aggressive. The events of Saturday night clearly had a toll on him," said Mahapatra.
