New Delhi, July 6: A couple of days after the Delhi Police's Crime Branch refuted the occult angle linked to the suicide of an 11-member family in Burari, a tantrik identified as Geeta Maa has confessed on camera to have "pushed the family to commit suicide". She has been taken into custody.
The video of her purported confession was aired by CNN News 18 on Friday. In the clip, Geeta Maa is heard saying, "I pushed them to commit suicide... told them how to end their lives".
The TV report claimed Geeta is the daughter of the man who was employed as the contractor of the deceased's house. Official confirmation about her identity, as well as the "confession" is awaited.

The Burari death case was first reported on Sunday, after the bodies of 10 family members were found hanging in their house at 7:30am. The eldest among the deceased, Narayan Devi, was found dead lying on the floor in the adjacent room.
While autopsy report has confirmed "ligature hanging" as the reason behind their deaths, the investigators are probing the superstition angle to ascertain the exact cause which compelled the entire family to commit suicide.
Nearly 50 handwritten notes recovered from the house gave impetus to the occult angle as they recorded purported conversations between Lalit Bhatia, the daughter of Narayan Devi, with their "dead father". In one of the notes, Bhatia said he is receiving "divine instructions" from their dead father on how to handle the business, property dealings and family responsibilities.
In one of the notes, Lalit also recorded the procedure in which the family will perform the "final ritual". The steps listed matched with the manner in which the deceased ended their lives.
