Bulandshahr: Police Bust Honey-Trapping Gang, Arrest 6 Including Woman for Extorting Money Using Obscene Videos
Bulandshahr police have busted a honey-trapping gang that recorded obscene videos of victims and extorted money by threatening them with false legal cases. Six suspects, including a woman, were arrested.
Meerut, September 2: Bulandshahr police busted a honey-trapping gang on Sunday, September 2, involved in extorting money from victims by recording their obscene videos. The crackdown resulted in the arrest of six individuals, including a woman. The gang's modus operandi included sending obscene videos to victims' mobile phones, accompanied by threats of false legal actions to demand money.
According to a report by Times Of India, Police have confiscated five mobile phones and ₹3 lakh in cash from the suspects—Sohan Pal, Ajeet Singh, Aakash Kumar, Jeetendra Singh, Sonu, and Poonam—all of whom are from Bulandshahr. "The woman would lure the targets and arrange in-person meetings. The other members of the gang would then threaten to implicate the victims in false rape cases and demand money. Several people have been duped in this way." Bulandshahr SSP Shlok Kumar was quoted as saying. Further investigations uncovered that the gang had deceived at least six individuals. After trapping their victims, the gang forced them to sign fraudulent agreements that falsely labelled the money exchanged as part of a bogus business transaction. This scheme was designed to complicate the process for victims wishing to file complaints, making it challenging for them to seek legal redress.
