New Delhi, December 5: A video has surfaced which suggests that the murder of Inspector Subodh Kumar Singh by a violent mob in Bulandshahr and Sumit, a 20-year-old youth, could be linked. The mob, which was comprised of members of various Hindu groups, might have killed Subodh Kumar in retaliation to police firing which allegedly resulted in Sumit's death.
The video also suggests that Sumit was part of the protesters who went on a rampage over allegations of illegal cow slaughter in a village of Bulandshahr. His family claimed that Sumit had gone to drop his friend who came to his place to give an invitation and got caught in the violence. In the video, Sumit is seen with a chest wound. In the video, protesters are heard saying that "shots have been fired". Injured Sumit is seen being taken to safety by two men. A constable is also seen holding a rifle in a field as the mob closes in. The person who shot the video can be heard shouting: "Snatch the guns. Maaro, Maaro." In final frame of the video, Station House Officer (SHO) Subodh Kumar is reportedly seen lying.

The mob was allegedly led by Yogesh Raj, member of Bajrang Dal, claimed that seven men slaughtered cows in village Mahaw. Yogesh Raj is absconding. Two FIRs had been registered - one for cow slaughter and another for rioting. Seven persons have been booked for cow slaughter including two minors. In the FIR for rioting, 27 persons have been named including leaders of Bajrang Dal and Vishwa Hindu Parishad along with 60 unidentified persons.
