Lucknow, December 7: The Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) unit in Bulandshahr had been seeking transfer of Inspector Subodh Kumar Singh who was killed by a violent mob in Syana on Monday. A letter has surfaced which the local BJP leaders wrote to the party MP Bhola Singh three months ago. The saffron leaders had accused Subodh Kumar Singh of "creating obstacles for Hindu religious functions".

"Inspector Subodh Kumar Singh was in the habit of creating obstacles for Hindu religious functions, because of which anger is brewing in Hindu society. Therefore, he (Singh) and other local police officers should be transferred immediately and departmental action be initiated against them," the letter had stated. BJP's Bulandshahr city general secretary Sanjay Shrotiya confirmed that the party had written the letter. Did Inspector Subodh Kumar Singh Fire at Sumit Before Being Lynched? Speaking to a leading daily, Shrotiya admitted that there was a conflict on a range of issues between the local BJP and the deceased cop. He said Singh would penalise people for riding without helmet in the city. We had requested him to impose a fine only on those riding without helmet on highways, but he didn't listen to us, the BJP leader said.

"But above all, he was in the habit of throwing spanner in religious events because of which there was a resentment in the Hindu Samaj. Therefore, we wrote to the local MP on September 1 last," Shrotiya was quoted as saying. "We had asked for his transfer due to his high-handed attitude. All the local office-bearers of the party had sent a common letter to the MP," former BJP corporator Manoj Tyagi, who had also signed the letter, also said.

Station House Officer (SHO) Subodh Kumar was killed by a mob in the violence that broke out after alleged cow slaughter. The mob was allegedly led by Yogesh Raj, member of Bajrang Dal, claimed that seven men slaughtered cows in village Mahaw. Yogesh Raj is absconding. Two FIRs had been registered - one for cow slaughter and another for rioting.

Seven persons have been booked for cow slaughter including two minors. In the FIR for rioting, 27 persons have been named including leaders of Bajrang Dal and Vishwa Hindu Parishad along with 60 unidentified persons.
