Lucknow, October 26: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has sought a report from the local administration after eight people died in an explosion which took place in a firecracker factory in Budaun. The CM also promised of taking action if found any negligence. While talking to the media about the tragic incident, Yogi said, “It was an accident. Guidelines were already issued to the district administration to take precautions till Diwali. Rescue works underway. Report has been sought from administration and action will be taken if negligence is found.”

Earlier in the day, eight people died in the explosion in a firecracker factory in Badaun, while three others were reported injured. In a similar incident, at least four people were killed in a fire incident caused after explosions at a fireworks manufacturing unit in Tamil Nadu's Virudhunagar district in September.

Meanwhile, on October 23, the Supreme Court refused to impose a complete ban on firecrackers while pronouncing its verdict on a ban on the manufacture and sale of firecrackers across India. Earlier in August, the top court while considering a plea for a ban on firecrackers, had said that it needs to take into account all aspects, including the fundamental right of livelihood of firecracker manufacturers and the right to health of over 1.3 billion people in the country.
