Attari-Wagah (Punjab) Aug 22: The troops of Border Security Force (BSF) and Pakistan Rangers exchanged sweets at Wagah Border on Wednesday to mark the occasion of Eid al-Adha.

As a goodwill gesture, the BSF and Pakistani Rangers have been traditionally exchanging sweets on different occasions such as Republic Day, Independence Day, Eid, Diwali etc.

While the exchange of sweets did not take place during this year's Republic Day, the tradition was revived later. Recently on the occasion of India's 72nd Independence Day, Border Security Forces and Pakistani Rangers exchanged sweets at Wagah-Attari border

The country is celebrating Eid-Al-Adha on Wednesday with great religious zeal and fervour. The Eid al-Adha is also referred as 'Sacrifice Feast' and 'Bakri Eid'. The day is believed to honour the willingness of Ibrahim (Abraham) to sacrifice his son, as an act of obedience to God's command. On this occasion, the Muslim community sacrifices domestic animals such as goat or sheep and share the meat with their family, friends, neighbours and the poor.
