Jammu, January 15: A Border Security Force (BSF) officer was martyred on Tuesday in ceasefire violation by Pakistan along the Line of Control (LoC) in Hiranagar sector of Jammu and Kashmir’s Kathua district. According to reports, Assistant Commandant Vinay Prasad who was injured in the ceasefire violation, later succumbed to his injuries. More details are still awaited. Meanwhile, in a separate incident of ceasefire violation on the Army Day today, the Indian and Pakistani armies traded heavy fire on the LoC in Jammu, and Kashmir's Rajouri district, a Defence Ministry spokesman said. "At 10 a.m., the Pakistan Army initiated unprovoked ceasefire violation using small arms and shelling with heavy calibre weapons in the Sunderbani sector," Lieutenant Colonel Devender Anand told IANS. The Indian Army also retaliated strongly.
Earlier on December 21, two jawans lost their lives in an unprovoked ceasefire violation by Pakistani troops on the LoC in Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir. Pakistan army resorted to ceasefire violation in Keran sector of Kupwara. The deceased soldiers were identified as Subedar Gamar Thapa and Subedar Raman Thapa.
