Chennai, October 10: Yogesh, a 41-year-old fitness trainer and celebrated bodybuilder who clinched nine titles, including "Mr Tamil Nadu" in 2022, tragically passed away on Sunday, October 8. The incident occurred moments after an intense workout session at a gym located in Korattur, Chennai. Despite taking a hiatus from the gym following his 2022 victory, Yogesh had recently resumed training for an upcoming competition. He also served as a trainer at the Korattur gym.
According to multiple sources, on the day of his death, Yogesh was diligently training both his clients and himself, pushing the boundaries of physical exertion. After an hour of vigorous exercise, he informed his colleagues of his fatigue and expressed his intention to take a steam bath for relaxation. However, concern arose when, after 30 minutes, Yogesh did not respond from the locked bathroom. His colleagues took swift action, breaking open the door to discover him unconscious on the floor. Rushed to the Government Kilpauk Medical College and Hospital (KMCH), doctors declared him dead, citing cardiac arrest as the cause of his untimely demise. Senior cardiologist Dr G Sengottuvelu noted that the exact cause of Yogesh's death would require prior medical information. He mentioned that heavy exercise, exacerbated by dehydration from a steam bath, might have disrupted the body's salt balance, potentially leading to pulmonary embolism. Furthermore, excessive use of steroids or muscle-building agents could have triggered arrhythmia, contributing to Yogesh's tragic demise.
