BMC Tells Mumbaikars Not to Fill And Fix Potholes Themselves, Says 'Reach Out to Us Directly'
The BMC took to micro-blogging site Twitter to make people aware that using incorrect methods of filling potholes may lead to accidents. A number of deaths due to potholes accidents on roads are reported particularly in metro cities including Mumbai, Bengaluru, Kolkata and Delhi.
Mumbai, August 24: The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Saturday urged Mumbaikars to reach out to the civic body directly to fix potholes across the city and not undertake any illegal method. The BMC took to micro-blogging site Twitter to make people aware that using incorrect methods of filling potholes may lead to a number of road accidents. A number of deaths due to potholes on roads are reported particularly in metro cities like Mumbai, Bengaluru, Delhi, Chennai and Kolkata.
"Dear Mumbaikars, always approach @mybmc, to fix the Potholes. It is the legal and correct way. Avoid filling any potholes on your own using debris. Using incorrect methods of filling potholes may lead to accidents. It is illegal to do so. Please don't take law in your hands", the tweet read.

Earlier this month, the BMC claimed that 414 potholes are remaining in the city that needs to be filled. The civic body said that have managed to fill 2,334 potholes, which is 84 per cent work completed. In a recent report by Mumbai Mirror, the BMC said it has filled 2334 potholes, out of the received 2,648 pothole-related complaints on its app 'MCGM 24X7' since June 10.
