The BMC introduced a budget in excess of Rs 30,000 crores for the financial year 2019-20, after two relatively lower budgets for the last two financial years. Below are the highlights of BMC's Budget 2019-20:
The total amount allocated for this year's budget is Rs 30,692.59 crore which is significantly higher as compared to last year's budget of Rs 27,258 crores.
Rs 11, 480 crores made available for various public works.
Over 6,500 CCTVs to be installed in the year 2019-20 in various schools across the city.
More than Rs 1500 allocated for the roads and development work.
Rs 3,323 crore dedicated to develop various public amenities.
Cycle Track to be developed along Tansa water supply pipeline, which will be developed with a fund of Rs 120 crores.
Desilting of nullahs, minor nullahs and Mithi river to be carried out with help of Rs 56 crores.
16 storied multi-purpose Housing building proposed for working women in Goregaon (West).
A budget provision of Rs 1,600 crore was made for the Mumbai coastal road project, work on which took off last year following which an inauguration in December 16, 2018 was also held.
Rs 100 crore has been allocated to other major projects like Goregaon Mulund Link Road.
