Thane, February 20: A low-intensity explosion occurred in Thane on Wednesday after an unidentified person allegedly threw a plastic ball filled with explosives. According to a tweet by ANI, the incident took place in Kashimira road area in Mira Road of Thane district around 10 am on Wednesday. Reports inform that Police found traces of plastic bottle, metal balls, and locally made jute fuse. No casualties or damage to property has been reported so far.

Reports inform that according to a preliminary investigation, it was a very small device incapable to injure someone. An investigation into the incident is currently underway.

In the wake of the incident, SP Thane (rural) said as soon as the incident was reported, the Bomb Detection & Disposal Squad were rushed to the spot. "Our Bomb Detection & Disposal Squad present on the spot. Anti-Terror Squad also there. Earlier this month, a massive fire in a Thane village destroyed at least 25 godowns, where plastic and rubber material were stored. According to a PTI report, the blaze took place around following an explosion in an oxy-acetylene cylinder in one of the godowns, located in Dahisar-Mori locality of Uttarshiv village. Taloja MIDC fire station officer Deepak Dorugade informed that the fire then spread rapidly to other warehouses in the vicinity.
