Blast in Navi Mumbai: Chemical Drum Explodes in Taloja, One Injured

Navi Mumbai, October 29: One person was injured after a chemical drum exploded at Taloja in neighbouring Navi Mumbai on Monday. The blast occurred at 8:15 am in the compound of a Mumbai-based waste management company at MIDC. The injured person was identified as excavator driver Santosh Patil.

According to the police, supervisor of the company directed to shift a chemical drum to open space when he noticed smoke billowing from it. The drum exploded when it was being lifted, an official told Times of India. Patil fell on the ground due to the intensity of the explosion.

The official added an investigation was underway into the incident. The exact cause of the blast was not immediately known.
