Blast at Arun III Hydropower Project Site in Nepal, None Hurt
India’s SJVN has been carrying out the construction work at the plant.
Kathmandu, February 8: A series of blasts took place at Arun III Hydropower Project in Nepal's Sankhuwasabha district on Friday. According to local media reports, three explosions rocked the powerhouse of under construction Arun III Hydropower Project. India’s SJVN has been carrying out the construction work at the plant.
As many as three improvised explosive devices were detonated at the powerhouse, Police Inspector Rameshwor Pandit said, as reported by The Kathmandu Post. A boomer and a generator were damaged in the explosion, the police said. No one was hurt in the blast. No group or individual has claimed responsibility.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Nepali counterpart KP Sharma Oli had jointly laid the foundation stone for the project remotely during Modi’s Nepal visit in May last year.
