Surat, November 15: In a shocking case from Gujarat's Surat, family members of a 50-year-old man reportedly jumped on his chest which allegedly led to his death, police said today. The deceased, identified as Kanji Kumbhar, was a diamond polisher. According to the police reports, Kumbhar's family member believed that he was possessed by an evil spirit and decided to drive the spirit away. His family reportedly made him drink water mixed with vermilion and then made him lie on the floor on his back. His family members later left the body lying in the flat and went out of town. On November 13, his wife alerted police that her husband died. Police recovered his body and sent it for post-mortem which revealed that he died due to shock and excessive internal bleeding in his spleen and lungs. When questioned, his kins tried to mislead police but later they revealed that he died during the process of Black magic. All the six members were arrested under the relevant sections of Indian Penal code (IPC).
