Indore, July 1: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) General Secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya on Monday defended his son Akash, BJP MLA from Indore-3, who assaulted a Municipal Officer with a cricket bat last week, saying that its not a big issue. "I think there was mishandling from both sides. Both Akash ji and the municipal corporation commissioner are novice players. It was not a big issue, but it was blown out of proportion," Kailash Vijayvargiya said. Watch Video of Akash Assaulting the Municipal Official.
“According to rules, the municipal corporation’s officers shouldn’t have released an order to demolish any residential building during the rainy season. If it was so important, they should have made necessary arrangements for the accommodation of residents,” he added.
Akash Vijayvargiya was released on bail on Sunday morning following the Bhopal Court's order. He was welcomed by his followers with flowers, garlands and celebratory gun firing in the sky. The 34-year-old leader was caught on camera assaulting a civic official with a bat while opposing demolition of a dilapidated house.
