Kolkata, July 16: BJP workers today attacked civic police volunteers at Chowringhee crossing in Kharagpur. According to media reports, the party workers attacked the civic police volunteers as they couldn't attend Prime Minister Narendra Modi's rally in Midnapore due to heavy traffic on the route.

News agency ANI posted the video on Twitter which shows the party workers raising slogans and creating commotion. Watch the video below:

Prime Minister Narendra Modi's rally in West Bengal's Midnapore did not end up as desired as several people were injured after a portion of the tent made for the public collapsed today. The Prime Minister was addressing the rally at the time of the portion's collapse.

PM Modi later visited the injured in the hospital and enquired about the condition of those who were hurt. A tweet from the Prime Minister's "Straight after the rally in Paschim Medinipur, PM Narendra Modi went to the local hospital and enquired about the condition of those who have been injured."

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in his speech, made scathing attack on the West Bengal government, led by CM Mamata Banerjee. PM Modi accused the chief minister of murdering democracy in West Bengal and said that the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) has failed at all fronts. As per the latest update, over 60 people have been injured after the canopy fell during PM's rally.
