Raipur, October 29: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday released its second list of candidates for the Chhattisgarh assembly elections 2018. In the second list, the BJP declared its candidates on 11 seats of Chhattisgarh assembly. The ruling party has so far announced names of 89 out of the 90 seats of the state assembly.

The BJP released its first list of 77 candidates on October 20. Of these 77, 14 are women, 25 are less than 40 years of age, ten candidates belong to the Scheduled Castes and 29 STs. Chief Minister Raman Singh filed his nomination from his traditional Rajnandgaon seat. BJP fielded Ramdayal Uike, the working president of the Chhattisgarh Congress who joined the saffron party recently, from Pali-Tanakhar seat.

Congress has announced 72 candidates for the two-phased polls in the state. Chhattisgarh has 90 assembly seats and will be the first to go to the polls in two phases on November 12 and 20. The results will be declared on December 11. The first phase of polling covers 18 seats spread across eight Naxal-affected districts — Bastar, Bijapur, Dantewada, Sukma, Kondagaon, Kanker, Narayanpur and Rajnandgaon.

The BJP had won 49 seats in the previous assembly polls in 2013. The Congress is out of power in the state for 15 years.
