Uttara Kannada, September 9: Former Union Minister and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Uttara Kannada MP Anant Kumar Hegde on Monday targeted IAS officer Sasikanth Senthil. He termed Senthil, who resigned as Deputy Commissioner of Karnataka’s Dakshina Kannada district on Friday, a Gaddar (traitor). “The state government should realize that it should have sacked him after he opened his polluted mindset against the Union Government. But cajoling this gaddar to return, amounts to treacherous act against the nation,” Hegde said in a tweet.

Hegde's tweet comes after the resident's of IAS officer's native village in Tamil Nadu’s Kancheepuram launched a protest demanding Senthil to withdraw his resignation. Earlier, IAS Officer Kannan Gopinathan had issued his resignation over the condition in Jammu and Kashmir after the abrogation of Article 370.

“I also feel strongly that the coming days will present extremely difficult challenges to the basic fabric of our nation and that I would be better off outside the IAS to continue with my work at making life better for all. It simply cannot be business as usual anymore," Senthil said in his statement.
