BJD’s Patkura Assembly Elections 2019 Candidate Bed Prakash Agarwalla Dies

Veteran leader and Biju Janata Dal (BJD) candidate from Patkura assembly constituency in Elections 2019, Bed Prakash Agarwalla died while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Odisha's capital city Bhubaneshwar on Saturday.

Bhubaneshwar, April 20: Veteran leader and Biju Janata Dal (BJD) candidate from Patkura Assembly constituency in Elections 2019, Bed Prakash Agarwalla died while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Odisha's capital city Bhubaneshwar on Saturday. According to reports, Agarwalla was unwell for the past few days and was admitted to the hospital for treatment. BJD Launches Manifesto with Focus on Farmers, Youth and Women.

Agarwalla was elected to the Odisha Legislative Assembly (OLA) four times and twice from Patkura in 2009 and 2014. He was also the former finance minister of the state. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has expressed deep grief over the demise of the veteran politician. The elections in Patkura Assembly is expected to be postponed.

Agarwalla joined politics at a young age of 20, after completing his graduation in Economics from Ravenshaw College. He was elected to Odisha legislative assembly from Kendrapara in 1974 on Utkal Congress ticket. He later joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and was elected from Kendrapara Assembly constituency in 2000 polls. He represented Patkura Assembly seat twice in 2009 and 2014 elections on BJD ticket.
