Thane, June 27: A 25th birthday celebration turned fatal in Thane when a man was thrown off a fourth-floor balcony by his friends in Chinchpada Gaon, Kalyan, following a dispute over lack of alcohol. The victim, identified as Kartik Vayal, had invited three friends, Nilesh Kshirsagar, Sagar Kale, and Dheeraj Yadav, to celebrate his birthday.

According to a report in Hindustan Times, the incident occurred late at night when the group ran out of liquor. "The conversation flowed effortlessly as the liquor did, and when the drinks were over, the four friends, in an inebriated state, started bickering over the lack of booze," a police official reported. Kartik then went to his bedroom to sleep. Enraged, Nilesh, Sagar, and Dheeraj went to his room, dragged him onto the balcony, and threw him off. Upon being informed of the incident, Kartik’s family and the police were initially misled by the trio, who claimed Nilesh was injured by Kartik and that they had no knowledge of how Kartik fell. However, Kartik’s family insisted on a thorough investigation, leading police to uncover the true sequence of events.

The Ulhasnagar police have registered a murder case against Nilesh, Sagar, and Dheeraj. "The accused gave conflicting statements, raising doubts about their account of Kartik’s death. We persistently worked to determine the sequence of events that resulted in this tragic loss of life," a police official stated.
