Mumbai, July 11: In a tragic event, a 28-year-old man from Juinagar in Navi Mumbai died by drowning in a water-filled pit at an under-construction site on Tuesday, July 9, during his birthday celebration. The man reportedly got drunk while partying with a friend, and then jumped into the pit. The deceased was rushed to the nearby hospital, where he was declared dead. 

According to a report by the Hindustan Times, the victim, identified as Raj Sanjay Sangre, was a resident of Juinagar. Sangre worked as a delivery boy and lived with his family. At around 3 pm, Sangre, along with his friend, went to celebrate at a water-filled pit near Mangalprabhu Hospital in Juinagar Sector 24. Both jumped into a pit, but Sangre struggled to swim as he was likely under the influence of alcohol and drowned. Assistant police inspector Nitin Khade from Nerul police station was quoted as saying, “There are videos of the deceased swimming in the pit. But suddenly, he started drowning.” A case of accidental death was registered as no foul play was suspected. The deceased's family did not lodge any complaint either.
