New Delhi, November 3: Information and Technology Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad on Saturday, while speaking at an event in Delhi, said that the data on Aadhaar is safe and cannot be breached. He added that by digital India program, the government is trying to empower the common people with the help of technology. He further said the government is trying to use technology which is low cost, developmental and inclusive for the people.

"Biometric data on Aadhaar is kept in safe & secure conditions, in an encrypted form, it cannot be breached. Amitabh Kant, CEO NITI Aayog was also present in the event. While speaking to media he said, "Technology must be the key driver and it is the only way forward. My belief is that India must come out with a strong privacy law and we should allow the private sector to innovate."

Earlier, Prasad has asked IT community to reach out to the deserving and underprivileged sections and to make them digitally literate. He said that this help from the IT community would push India towards achieving the goal of transforming India into a digital society and a better place to live.
