Bijnor, November 8: A 23-year-old woman was tragically stabbed to death by her husband while drunk at her home in Bijnor. The incident occurred when the husband, reportedly under the influence of alcohol, accused his wife of being involved in an extramarital affair with a neighbour. As tension escalated, the accused stabbed his wife to death before fleeing the scene. He was later arrested following a swift investigation by the local police.

According to a report by The Times of India, the accused, identified as Gaurav Kumar (25), allegedly killed his wife, Divyanshi alias Shanky, on October 16 at her parental home in Bijnor's city station area. Following the murder, Kumar fled the scene, prompting a complaint from the victim's father, Ranveer Singh, who accused Gaurav and his family members of cruelty and harassment. The police initially registered a case under various sections, including dowry death, cruelty against women, and intimidation, based on the father's complaint. Uttar Pradesh Shocker: Man Strangulates 17-Day-Old Daughter Born on Dussehra to Death in Varanasi Following Quarrel with Wife, Surrenders Before Police with Infant's Body.

However, after a detailed investigation and questioning, Gaurav confessed to the crime, admitting to having killed his wife in a fit of rage. Police found that his suspicion about her having an extramarital affair with a neighbour was the motive behind the killing. Further inquiry revealed that Kumar had been regularly abusing his wife, particularly after consuming alcohol, and had also demanded money from her family. Following the confession, the police dropped the dowry death and other charges against his family members, clearing them of involvement. Uttar Pradesh Shocker: Woman Head Constable Allegedly Raped in Field While Returning Home From Karva Chauth in Kanpur, Accused Arrested (Watch Video).
