Muzaffarpur, June 14: Two local Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leaders were shot at by unidentified assailants in Kanti area of Bihar's Muzaffarpur district on Thursday. Soon after the episode, the injured were shifted to a hospital. Their condition is said to be stable now. Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Mukul Ranjan said that investigation into the matter is underway. Bihar: Witness in Murder Case of Former Siwan MP Shahabuddin's Nephew Yusuf Shot Dead.

The victims were identified as Umashankar Prasad and Surendra Yadav. According to reports, Yadav was shot two times while Prasad was shot four times. Police said that the incident is linked to a property dispute. "Both the injured are in a stable condition now, investigation underway," Ranjan was quoted by news agency ANI.

Earlier this year, former RJD MP Mohammad Shahabuddin's nephew Yusuf was shot dead in Siwan in February. Following the murder, the villagers took out a protest. Hundreds of villagers, mostly Shahabuddin's followers, blocked roads and demanded action. In January, RJD leader Raghuvar Rai was shot dead in broad daylight outside his resident in Kalyanpur.
