Samastipur, July 06: In a shocking incident in Samastipur district, Bihar, a 30-year-old woman, Priya Devi, killed her father-in-law, Ram Naresh Mahto, on Thursday night, allegedly for his ‘bad intentions’ towards her. The incident occurred in Vindgama Jalalpur village under Mohanpur police station.
TOI reported that that Priya tied Ram Naresh, 64, to the bed and strangled him while he was asleep. Following the act, Priya went to the local police station on Friday morning and confessed to the crime. Suraj Mahto, Priya's husband, claimed his father had inappropriate intentions towards Priya, which allegedly led to the murder. Ram Naresh lived in the village with his daughter-in-law and two grandchildren, while Suraj resided in Pune but had recently returned home. Mohanpur SHO, Ajit Kumar Trivedi, stated that a forensic team visited the village to collect evidence. However, local villagers suggested another motive: they claimed Ram Naresh had recently sold paternal land but did not share any money with his son and daughter-in-law. This financial dispute could be a possible reason behind the murder, according to the SHO.
In another case, a woman in Gujarat's Kheda has been arrested over the alleged murder of her elderly father-in-law. It is alleged she took the step because he had refused to give her Rs 2 lakh to go abroad. The accused daughter-in-law allegedly chopped off his private parts and hit him hard on his skull.
During a police interrogation, the daughter-in-law confessed to the crime and told the police that the 75-year-old deceased often had physical relations with her and gave her money in exchange for their illicit relationship.
