Patna, October 2: Dialling a wrong number turned out to be deadly for a man in Bihar’s Bhojpur. A 26-year-old man was beaten to death for inadvertently dialling the number of a neighbour in Bhojpur late Saturday evening. The deceased has been identified as Rakesh Singh. He was the son of Surendra Singh of Majhauan village on the outskirts of Ara town.
According to a report in TOI, Rakesh's friend and an eyewitness in the case, Raushan Kumar told the media at the Sadar hospital Ara on Sunday, "We were standing near the Kali temple when Rakesh inadvertently dialled the number of co-villager Bhulchul, who got angry. The two had heated exchange of words over the phone. Then Bhulchul arrived there around 9pm and started punching and kicking Rakesh and thrashed him with a stick as well. Bhojpur SP Pramod Kumar Yadav said, "The family members of the deceased have lodged an FIR against 4 persons with the Town police station. The accused are absconding but will be arrested soon."
Rakesh was to appear for the state constable recruitment examination on Sunday.
This comes nearly a month after a man in Bihar's Katihar district was severely beaten up, his head forcibly tonsured and beard shaved, and was made to wear a garland of shoes after a woman accused him of molesting and harassing her.
