Nawada, July 5: In a bizarre incident, a man was bitten by a snake while laying railway tracks in Nawada’s dense forest on Tuesday, July 2, night. The situation took an unusual turn when he bit back the snake twice in retaliation, resulting in the snake's death. However, the man, Santosh Lohar who is a railway employee, responded well after receiving treatment from the hospital.
According to a report by the Times of India, Lohar was laying on railway tracks in a dense forest when a snake bit him. Lohar, keeping in mind a traditional local belief, bit the snake twice, assuming his action would neutralise the snake's poison. Miraculously, this worked, resulting in the snake's death. Meanwhile, Lohar’s coworkers took him to a Rajuali subdivision hospital for rapid treatment right after the incident. Lohar was treated under Dr Satish Chandra Sinha. A similar incident was in August last year when a man in Odisha followed the same practice to save himself from a life-and-death situation. Surprisingly, it saved him too. There is no scientific evidence for this case, but this is a common practice in rural India against snakebites.
