Patna, August 6: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has collected the documents and evidences from local police and administration in the Muzaffarpur Shelter Home Case, where at least 32 minor girls were sexually exploited and raped. News reports say that the CBI is also getting in touch with the Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) team which was involved in preparing the audit report of the shelter home in Muzaffarpur.
Meanwhile, Congress Leader Ranjeet Ranjan has given an adjournment motion notice in Lok Sabha over Muzaffarpur shelter home case's main witness missing from Bihar's Madhubani. The 13-year-old girl, who is a witness in the Muzaffarpur Shelter Home sexual exploitation case, was among the 44 inmates who were shifted from the shelter home. The girls had been moved from the Muzaffarpur shelter home to another home in Madhubani, but the girl has since gone missing.
Meanwhile, other shelter homes also continue to come under the scanner following the news of criminal wrongdoing in the Muzaffarpur shelter home case. In the latest such development, the former Superintendent of Bhagalpur Shelter Home, named Pradeep Sharma, has been arrested. "TISS (Tata Institute of Social Sciences) in its social audit report had mentioned that arrangements for children at the the Bhagalpur shelter home were not good," reported news agency ANI.
In another news of alleged wrongdoing in a shelter home in Deoria, Uttar Pradesh, 24 girls have been rescued and search for other 15 girls is underway after one of the girls in the home, got a police complaint registered after she was rescued. Rita Bahuguna Joshi, Minister for Child and Women Welfare in Uttar Pradesh, was quoted saying by news agency ANI that, "After CBI inspection last year, it was established that Deoria shelter home centre was running illegally. A direction was issued to shift the inmates and shut it. But this order was not followed."
