Bihar: Professor Thrashed, Assaulted by Mob in Motihari for Criticising Atal Bihari Vajpayee on His Facebook Post
According to reports, the professor was reportedly dragged from his third-floor house to the street and assaulted in broad daylight. The police have reportedly booked 12 people in connection with the incident.
Bihar, August 18: In a shocking incident, a Professor at the Mahatma Gandhi Central University in Motihari was allegedly attacked on Friday for his Facebook post criticising former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. According to reports, the professor was reportedly dragged from his third-floor house to the street and assaulted in broad daylight. The police have reportedly booked 12 people in connection with the incident.
Sanjay Kumar, Assistant Professor in the Sociology department of the Mahatma Gandhi Central University received several injuries and was taken to AIIMS Patna after he was thrashed by a mob. According to a tweet by ANI, Kumar said there are some elements that have been targeting him for speaking against the VC and this was another excuse.
In the comments section, Kumar had written, ‘Fascivad ke ek Yug ki samapti. Atal ji anant yatra par nikle (The end of an era of fascism. Atal ji embarks on another journey)‘. Reports informed that although Kumar had the energy to file a complaint with the state police, he is said to be in a critical condition.
Former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee was cremated with full state honours at the Rashtriya Smriti Sthal, Vijay Ghat in New Delhi on Friday. The former prime minister was accorded a 21-gun salute. Vajpayee, who passed away at the age of 93 at AIIMS in New Delhi on August 16, was the forerunner for several economic reforms undertaken by his successors.
