Patna, July 29: Heavy rains have exposed the preparation of civic authorities of Patna to deal with the situation. In a shocking incident, an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Nalanda Medical College Hospital (NMCH) in Patna was waterlogged on Saturday. In a video that went viral on social media, fishes could also be seen swimming on the floor inside the ICU. The excess rainwater also reached up to the stairs of the outpatient department building.

Doctors and medical staffs of the hospitals were forced to attend patients in waterlogged premises. Heavy rains have wreaked havoc in the state. Earlier on Sunday, a road caved in at an under construction site in Patna. Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar took stock of the situation. He assured strict action against officials for negligence. Kumar said that the reasons for the cause would be studied thoroughly to avoid such incidents in future. The Bailey road caved in due to heavy rains.

“This is a 100 year-old-road which got broke due to heavy rains in the region from the past couple of days. Authorities will again conduct a detailed study about the flaws in the construction. If any official found guilty in this incident, the government will take strict action,” reported DNA quoting Kumar. Bihar's Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi also walked through the courtyard of his official residence after the flood hit Patna over the weekend.
